How Long Does It Take to Build a Small Business Website?

Quick answer

A simple one-page site can come together quickly; a multi-page site with integrations takes longer. In practice, the biggest factor usually isn't the building — it's how fast content, photos, logins, and approvals come back. Every project is different, so ask for a timeline based on your specific scope rather than a general number.

What actually sets the timeline

  • Content readiness. If your services, prices, service area, and photos already exist somewhere, things move. If they have to be written from scratch, that's the long part.
  • Page count. One page is faster than six. Each page needs its own content and its own review.
  • Revisions. One round of clear feedback is quick. Five rounds of scattered feedback is not.
  • Integrations. A plain contact form is straightforward. Booking, payments, or a CRM connection adds setup and testing, and depends on the tools involved.
  • Domain and account access. If nobody can log in to the domain registrar, the launch waits. See using a domain you already own.
  • Approvals. If more than one person has to sign off, add time for schedules to line up.

The part people underestimate

Most delays are content delays. Not design, not code — waiting on the list of services, the right phone number, or three decent photos. If you want a fast project, gather that first. You don't need it polished; you just need it to exist.

How to speed yours up

  • Write down your services in plain words, even roughly.
  • Collect 5-10 photos of your own work from your phone.
  • Confirm the phone number, email, and service area you want shown.
  • Find your domain login, or note that you don't have one yet.
  • Pick one person to give feedback, and give it all at once.

Why I don't quote a general turnaround here

I'd rather tell you a real date for your project than a marketing number that fits nobody. Once I know your scope and what you already have, I'll tell you what's realistic. That conversation is free, and nothing is due until the site is built and you like it.

If you're still deciding what you're buying, start with what a website costs and what a small business website should include.
